A full body sculpt of the shell of a Ball Jointed Doll. While the inner skeleton of dolls and figures tend to feature all the articulation, the outer shell is separated into parts to allow the inner skeleton to fit snugly inside and allow the doll to move in a wide array of movements and positions.
Sculpting time: 10 hours total ~ over a period of a week. The biggest challenge had to be the legs and arms, which are a lot less detailed than that of a video game or real life character. Aligning the gaps together and making sure that, if these shells were to be 3D printed, that they would logically be able to fit and move without much difficulty.
Afterthoughts: If I were to start again or create a new model, I would pay more attention to the upper chest area and pay more attention to the physics of the chest. Personally, I feel that the shoulders are sitting slightly off. While I acknowledge that there are obviously some differences in posture between a doll and a human, the shoulder and clavical area just feel slightly incorrect.
I thoroughly enjoyed making this and look forward to possibly printing it in the future.
